There’s nothing more important than a great tent when you’re backpacking, so it’s wonderful to hear that the top-quality German company VAUDE have re-launched their classic Terra Range of backpacking tents for Summer 2017.
27 years after the original Terra range set new standards of functionality and performance, this new range, already VAUDE’s best-selling tent range in the UK, uses advances in light weight fabrics and pole design to bring the Terra Range right up to date and indeed to the pinnacle of what’s possible in its price range.
The highlight of the range, the new Terrahogan 2p (weight 2200g, £280 RRP), a lightweight two person backpacking tent, is the rebirth of VAUDE’s classic Hogan tent, which was originally launched in 1990.
It features the innovative “Mark” external suspension system giving it a striking design that is as revolutionary now as it was 27 years ago. It features elastic cording which wraps around the self-supporting poles and means that setup is unbeatably fast and stable.
The new Terrahogan 2p has an offset dome design which provides optimal headroom near the door and been made specifically for the UK market. Mini poles stitched in the fly sheet also boost internal volume at the foot of the tent too so there’s always to space you need.
It is available exclusively at Cotswold Outdoor and Snow and Rock stores nationwide and online.
Among their many attributes, all Terra tents have simultaneous pitching so that they can be pitched quickly in bad weather and the entire range has PVC free fly fabric with a hexagonal ripstop pattern.
For larger groups The Terraquattro 3p (weight 3500g, £360 RRP) is again a tough and stable three person backpacking tent which provides a spacious porch at each end providing plenty of storage as well as space for cooking and the advantage of through ventilation. It also features the Mark construction of the two person version for very fast setup and stability.
The Terratrio 2p (weight 2600g, £240 RRP) is another choice of two person backpacking tent with an offset dome design. Slightly heavier than the Terrahogan 2p is is also designed to provide optimal headroom near the door for cooking.
It has an extended squared off porch and mini poles stitched in the fly sheet boost the internal volume of the tent. Colour coded poles and dead end pole sleeve make pitching quick and easy.
It’s also available in a three person version, the Terratrio 3p (weight 2800g, £265 RRP).
As well as being world famous for the high quality and superb design of its products VAUDE is pursuing a comprehensive sustainability strategy, which runs like a “green thread” through all segments of the company.
Their stated goal is to create a balance between ecological, social and economic responsibility and this effort was recognised with when the company was a named ‘Germany’s Most Sustainable Brand’ at the prestigious German Sustainability Awards.
